Across The Pond Weekly Wrap Up – 12/1

  • Simon Callow will star in a new stage adaptation of Oscar Wilde‘s De Profundis Jan. 3-6 at the Vaudeville Theatre in London’s West End; Sir Nicholas Hytner has written a book, Balancing Acts: Behind the Scenes at London’s National Theatre, detailing his time as a.d. of the venerable institution; the London production of The King and I with Kelli O’Hara and Ken Watanabe has been confirmed, with previews starting June 21 at the Palladium Theatre; Kobna Holdbrook-Smith and Madeline Appiah join Adrienne Warren in the West End production of Tina, the Tina Turner musical, beginning March 21 at the Aldwych; the Michael Grandage Company will present West End revivals of John Logan’s Red with original star Alfred Molina and Martin McDonagh’s The Lieutenant of Inishmore with Aidan Turner in 2018, both plays to be directed by Mr. Grandage.
