The long-awaited trailer for Marvel Studio’s Avengers: Infinity War has finally dropped – and the internet is practically on fire trying to decipher every last clue that’s jam-packed into the teaser’s two minutes and twenty-four seconds. Due for release in early May 2018, Avengers: Infinity War brings us to the culmination of a decade’s worth of blockbusters – and will be spanning Marvel’s Cinematic Universe in it’s entirety.
What does this mean for our favorite heroes? It’s not looking good in the trailer, as Thanos – the Mad Titan – emerges from the depths of the cosmos in search of the six Infinity Stones, which he’s planning to use to control the whole of reality. Each and every Avenger’s movie has led us up to this point, and the stakes have never been higher. Forums from all corners of the collective internet universe have already been placing well thought-out theories as to the fate of our heroes: specifically, who will survive this potentially world-ending encounter with Thanos.
It’s clear that Infinity War is calling upon a ton of superheroes – 67, to be exact (according to directors the Russo Brothers). Noticeable absences, however, include Ant-Man, Valkyrie, The Collector, and Hawkeye, who we last saw in Captain America: Civil War. Will these beloved heroes make an appearance in the movie, or do their stories extend beyond the cataclysmic event that Infinity War promises to be?
Looks like we’ll just have to wait and see.
